Race reviews 2

Odd for Akshaye, he seems to have got better notices from mass viewers than the elite reviewers:

While almost everybody in the cast is good, it is Akshaye Khanna who takes the cake. He is the perfect antagonist. In fact, it seems he is forming a team of sorts with Abbas-Mustaan (Humraaz, 36 China Town and Naqaab). His is the best and the most natural act. (Merinews)

Akshaye Khanna has the film's main role, and while his smirk and his shrug manage a couple of lines alright, this really isn't a performance to talk about. Never convincing, the otherwise competent Khanna too seems to be phoning in this role, more at ease grimacing behind the wheel than actually delivering his constant, overwritten punchlines. (Raja Sen) (BTW, don't read this review before watching this movie! Raja Sen really hates Akshaye, so if he has conceded that Akshaye did manage OK, then Akshaye must have done really well!)

Akshaye’s restricted to his traditional tweaking facial expressions. (Economic Times)

Akshaye Khanna does really well too. Abbas –Mastan always emerge in bringing out the negative traits in Akshaye with ease. The wickedness in Akshaye is expressed well with his smile. But the only problem here is that Akshaye has done such roles before for Abbas-Mastan thus there lacks a certain amount of shock value. (Indiaglitz)

Akshaye Khanna has mastered the art of the villainish smirk, thanks to his earlier outing in Abbas Mustan’s Humraaz (Timesnow)

Apart from this the movie is a fine entertainer with pretty good action sequences and a superb performance from Akshaye Khanna. He is the man you would love to hate in the film.

Akshaye Khanna deserves a special mention for a terrific performance in the film. He is the scene stealer. His pursed lips, his sarcastic smile, his raised brow and his funny demeanor make even the villainy of his character likeable. He plays the guy who has something funny to say even in the face of grave danger. (Glamsham)

Akshaye Khanna delivers an amazing performance. He acts brilliantly throughout the movie. (Nowrunning)

the usually dependable Akshaye Khanna delivers an amateurish performance by hamming through his scenes.. (CNN-IBN)

Shockingly, Akshaye Khanna hams. (Hindustan Times)

Akshaye Khanna proves his worth again! I have always loved his performance in every film and have always praised him. His performance in movies like Border, Aa Ab Laut Chalen, Taal, Dil Chahta Hai, Humraaz, Deewangee, Hungama, Deewar, Hulchul, 36 China Town, Salaam-E-Ishq, Naqaab and Gandhi My Father were marvelous and in Race too, he was fabulous! Hopefully, he’ll get more and better roles after this memorable performance! (Filmi Khabar)

Akshay Khanna too performs a tough role in an impressive manner. He can easily add this movie in his career’s Top 3. (Filmi Khabar)

Abbas-Mustan have always exploited Akshaye Khanna's talent to the fullest. And Race is no different. He might have got a raw deal in the promos, but in the film Khanna has the most well defined role. But a word of caution when it comes to his appearance. Khanna immediately needs to lose all that flab and get back into shape. In fact, senior actors like Anil and Saif come across looking fresher the Khanna Jr.
(Buzz18)

The actors, especially Saif Ali Khan, are in auto-pilot mode. Only Akshaye, who has the best lines, seems to be having any fun. (NDTV)

Well, all performances (Saif, Akshaye, Anil, Bips, Kat, & Sam) are good and effective. But, the best performance is undoubtedly Akshaye Khanna. He is the scene stealer. His performance stands out and he is outstanding. Because, Akshaye Khanna has a different role which is the most complex one and Akshoo has played his character with a great pomp and show. Race can be on the list as Akshaye Khanna's five best performance in his career - (Border, Dil Chahta Hai, Humraaz, Gandhi, My Father & Race).

Akshaye Khanna rocks in Race and he knocks down everyone else. If Race belongs to Saif, it does belong to Akshaye Khanna too since they are half brothers. Race belongs to both Saifu and Akshoo - equally!

Akshaye Khanna and his best performance always stood out in all Abbas Mustan movies (Humraaz, 36-China Town, Naqaab and now Race)! Hats off to Akshaye Khanna's finest art and wonderful style of villainous acting! Race is worth to watch more than 2 or 3 times. It's one of the best thrillers. Now, I'm waiting the next movie of Abbas Mustan with Akshaye Khanna once again as the main lead; because only Abbas Mustan know how to extract the best of Akshoo!

Chunky Pandey: Holi in Bangkok!

"I will be celebrating it in Bangkok along with two 'A's Akshaye Khanna, Akshay Kumar, both of them are shooting there.

We also have a huge Bollywood contingent there. Sunil, Ranbir, Deepika, Amrita and lot of other stars are shooting in Bangkok.

We have converted Bangkok into a mini Filmcity."

Akshaye Khanna is fabulous and he rocks again as always in Race after his last release Aaja Nachle. Abbas Mustan is right by saying that Akshaye Khanna is "a complete all-rounder".

Outstanding performance. Unbelievable acting by Akshaye Khanna.

And, yes his style of acting is not that same as in Humraazz and Naqaab as people are saying. His way of acting is very different in Race. Very mature acting evolved. He is a very competent actor. I just couldn't believe the mannerism of Akshoo as Rajeev Singh in Race. His drinking, his comedy, his sarcasm, his love, his hatred, his character, his plan, his pretense, his naughtiness, his over-confidence, his over-acting (which are required in some scenes), his chemistry with Saif, Kats and Bips are just too good. His acting is just fantastic.

Akshoo is an incredible performer.

"The chemistry between Saif Ali Khan and Akshaye Khanna is top-class with distinct and definitely ahead of the times characterization."

"Actingwise, every actor in Race is a show stealer. Saif, Akshaye and Anil lead their characters with poise, stylish and killing attitude. Katrina, Bipasha shine with their bold and well-crafted characters in the film. Sameera plays the dumb bomb in the true sense."

Akshaye Khanna is almost perfect in each frame of Race. It is not that Abbas Mustan know how to take the best out of Akshaye Khanna, in fact it's Akshoo who is the perfect and incredible actor that he acts with lots of determination and with great aplomb. Akshaye Khanna is a genius - as a villain (Humraaz & Race) and as an actor too (36, China Town & Naqaab)!

Hey Guys, Akshaye Khanna is the best and stands out not only in Abbas Mustan movies but also in Farhan Akhtar's Dil Chahta Hai and Nikhil Advani's Salaam-e-Ishq. Acting-wise, Akshoo is a very good actor and no one can beat him to great extent!
