MBPA, Akshaye's biggest solo hit!

As expected MERE BAAP PEHLE AAP has taken a fall and though it is bad, it is not catastrophic enough to result in it's investors turning panicky! With a 65% drop, the film still managed to earn 5 crores more which enabled the film to cross the respectable 20 crores mark. This makes the film as the biggest ever solo success for Akshaye Khanna when it comes to sheer collections. The film earned close to 90 lakhs in Mumbai while Delhi stood at 60 lakhs.

If one looks at Akshaye's films from the past, all of his successes so far have been multistarrers and this is for the first time that Akshaye has pulled audience by itself (though coming together of Priyan and Paresh Rawal along with him did help in a big way). Also for prouders Shemaroo, it is time to smile after GHATHOKACH being their latest box office failure. Still, in spite of face saving numbers enabling MERE BAAP PEHLE AAP to earn an average tag for itself, these are warning signs for Priyadarshan who must certainly have realized by now that there are obvious threats of his magic fading away!

I don't agree that Priyan's magic is fading away just because not all people like MBPA and just because it's not full comedy or full laugh riot ride. It's not fair to have high and unrequired expectations from the movie which was considered as light family entertainer by Priyan before its release!

Glad to know that it's Akshaye Khanna's biggest solo hit! And, I would like to mention that it's Akshoo who alone has pulled the audience through the promos. Try to notice the promos of MBPA again and you'll see that it's Akshoo who dominates the promos. Paresh Rawal and Om Puri are the supporting characters along with Archana Puran Singh and Rajpal Yadav! As for Genelia D'souza, she deserves to get credit of MBPA's success along with Akshaye Khanna. Both Akshaye Khanna and Genelia D'souza have pulled the movie so well with their awesome performances and make the movie watchable and this is where it succeeds!

Is Riteish Deshmuck better actor than Akshaye Khanna? Are Ranvir Shorey and Rahul Bose better than Akshaye Khanna? Is Bipasha Basu better performer than Akshaye Khanna in Race? Strange!!

I am surprised that Akshaye Khanna is not on the list of Top 10 actors of Mid Year 2008. I don't understand why Akshoo is not being recognized as top 10 actors this year with his superb performance in Race. Now, even Mere Baap Pehle Aap is a hit, Akshoo is not be written as top 10!
