Anil's relationship with Akshaye, Saif

With a lean season at Bollywood currently, one of the few films which is making people sit up and take notice is RACE. Its high adrenalin actions sequences are boasting of an international appeal while an unusual combination of multi star cast is intriguing too.

One such combination is that of veteran Anil Kapoor with Saif Ali Khan and Akshaye Khanna. While Saif and Akshaye had a great camaraderie demonstrated in DIL CHAHTA HAI, Anil Kapoor has acted with Saif and Akshaye only once earlier.

Remember TAAL? This was the first film which brought Anil and Akshaye together. The scenes they shared were powerful and quite important to the narrative of the film as they both wooed none other than Aishwarya Rai. Incidentally, the two were also the lead protagonists in two stories of episodic SALAAM-E-ISHQ and were paired opposite Juhi Chawla and Ayesha Takia respectively.

Later Akshaye was seen in Anil's home production GANDHI MY FATHER and is currently also involved in his second production SHORTKUT - THE CON IS ON!

With Saif, Anil has been involved for a very brief period. The film was BIWI NO. 1 where the two shared a solitary scene together. A Salman Khan - Karisma Kapoor film, BIWI NO. 1 had Anil in a cameo with Saif in a guest appearance. Now after RACE, Saif would be seen along with Anil Kapoor once more in TASHAN. Yet again, this Yash Raj film is an action entertainer and would showcase both the actors in a different light.

An Abbas Mustan film, RACE is an out and out action entertainer with Saif and Akshaye playing half-brothers while Anil plays a detective. Directed by Abbas Mustan, the film has been shot internationally with Dubai and Durban being prominent locations for shoot. Also starring Bipasha Basu, Katrina Kaif and Sameera Reddy, the film has music by Pritam.

A TIPS production, RACE has action by Allan Amin, Bollywood's numero uno action director, who has choreographed some breathtaking stunts for the film. RACE is looking at a March release.

Saif sabotages promotion of other stars in Race?

So Saif, who is more secure at the box-office, throws a fit when he sees a poster which shows all the stars of the movie and gets it to highlight just himself? No wonder he looked so grousy at the Provogue event. Definitely not big star behavior. In contrast, both Akshaye and Anil looked chilled out. They are the real cool stars.

From Midday:

Saif Ali Khan was recently part of a Provogue fashion show as a tie-up with the Abbas-Mustan starrer Race. At the event in New Delhi, the actor threw a fit when he saw the posters of the film which stars him along with Anil Kapoor, Akshaye Khanna and Bipasha Basu.

Publicity designers Rahul and Himanshu Nanda had created the look of the film and the first poster of Race was about to hit the theatres soon.

It is learnt that Saif was unhappy with what he saw and made his discomfort evident. He had a word with the director duo Abbas-Mustaan and told them to carry out certain changes.

Where’s the impact?

A source from the event reveals, “Saif always takes an active interest in each of his projects. He’s quite excited about Race and wanted the first look to create a good impact. Also since it’s a thriller and an Abbas-Mustaan film he wanted the poster to look in a certain way. He wasn’t too happy with the poster that was put up at the event and asked for changes.”

When contacted, Rahul Nanda confirms the development. He says, “Yes, we did rework on the poster. We value Saif’s opinion.

He had certain good suggestions that we agreed to and designed a new look. Everyone loved the final draft of the poster as it justifies the thriller genre the film belongs to.”
